I was up all night with the great morning chatter
All the animals were dancing by the ladder
We were up til 7:30 writing songs

The bears were singing, and the beavers were writers
Wrote a song ourselves, and we called our daughters
And I'll tell you everything that we thought
It was beautiful like a poem in the song

and I wish we sang by the sweet old pond
But the ducks they play and sing their songs
I took a midnight train going nowhere

Looking out the window at the stars
Felt a little bird inside my heart
and I heard that train howl in the night

Saw a pretty lady down the aisle
She was older, sweet, and had a child
She played til 7:30 in the morning
Playing games with her daughter every moment
Singing softly to the choir in a moment

An attendant came over, he asked me my order
All I wanted was a coke and a bowl of chowder
And I cried for 7 hours on the train
I wrote so many songs on many pages

Looking out the window I saw the flowers
The great old mountains I think I'm a coward
Feeling like I was before, like myself
Feeling like I was a child by myself
Can't tell you everything I feel myself

Singing songs with God? I'll sing them louder
The sweet noise of silent chatter
Cause on the train I wrote a page for 30 hours
